Jia Zhi has been participating in competitive netball in Singapore during her schooling years, and made her first contact with a physiotherapist when she hurt her foot. She was intrigued as to how taping and some manual therapy helped her to recover and play for the rest of the season, hence deciding to venture into this profession.
Jia Zhi graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from SIT (Singapore Institute of Technology) in collaboration with TCD (Trinity of Dublin) in 2015. Before joining PhysioActive, she was working in Tan Tock Seng for 5 years, specialising in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries (from neck/ back pain to ankle/ knee/ shoulder injuries), and chronic pain.
Jia Zhi thereafter develops a strong interest to rehabilitate patients with chronic pain, and went on to work at a private practice that combines Physiotherapy with Pilates to assist in the rehabilitation process. She is also Polestar Rehabilitation trained, and currently undergoes mentoring to prepare for the exam. Jia Zhi’s emphasis of treatment is to educate patients on conditions, busting common myths about exercise and physiotherapy, and to ensure that goals of the patients are met.
In her spare time, she likes to travel, hunt around for good food, but also balances it out by participating in as many sporting activities as she can.
Sunnie KeeMy left arm strangely became painful causing pain when I tried to reach the other parts of my body. Most painful was when I tried to clean my back during shower. I am grateful when therapist Tay Jia Zhi treated me. During each session she was meticulous in recording my complaints and in following up the next session. I believe her most important contribution was in prescribing the most effective work-out I had to do. The work-out detailed were minimal, but they were sure effective !
Mandeep BahraJZ has been excellent for helping me manage my back and muscle tightness. From the first day she thoroughly talked to and examined my condition and suggested exercises I should try. The physio treatment received for my injury was also first rate. Highly recommended! Thanks JZ :)
Lee Sang HuiRecommend this place to everyone. JiaZhi is a professional physiotherapist whom I have been approaching for treatment since Apr 2020. I suffered hip injuries one year ago and since my treatment coupled with dry needling, the hip feels less tight than usual.
T GJiaZhi is a very professional and knowledgeable physiotherapist who ensured that my rehabilitation was carried out effectively and most importantly, comfortably. She made my recovery a priority with frequent follow-ups and useful home exercises. Thanks to her, my condition had improved tremendously. The receptionists; Adlin and team are also very welcoming and helpful. I highly recommend this practice. 👍🏻
Derrick GohHighly recommended. Been undergoing physiotherapy under Jiazhi for just a few months & already there’s a lot of improvements. She’s very knowledgeable & the combination of muscle release via dry needling & stretching during our sessions plus the stretches & exercises done at home really made the difference.
Zhe TaoWhen I was first referred to Jia Zhi from my specialist, my ankle had a second grade ligament tear. This injury arose from one of my BMT trainings where I had a sprain. I never had a sprain before and was worried that I might become out of course. I was walking with a limp and felt constant pain at my heel throughout the day. I sought to use ankle braces but could not find appropriate ways to use them optimally. After my consultations with Jia Zhi, she shared with me ways on using them to reduce my pain. They helped me carry out daily activities with ease. Furthermore, she challenged me weekly to wean off the brace as my ankle grew stronger after performing the mini exercises she taught me each week. They helped me strengthen, stretch and rehabilitate my ankle till it was strong enough to perform exercises without feeling pain. She also educated me on ways to tape up my ankle. I am extremely thankful for Jia Zhi's support throughout my recovery process as I felt the pain in my ankle subside throughout a short span of 6 weeks. I was able to complete the activities in BMT without fear of becoming out of course. After my confidence in resuming training grew, I performed my trainings with the best of my ability and managed to gain back my physical fitness. Not only did she built the confidence in me to continue strengthening my ankle after my recovery, she also extended her knowledge of exercising safely and optimally. I highly recommend her as your go-to physiotherapist especially for people with first-time injuries!
Tang Ai MinI was diagnosed with Scoliosis when I was a teenager, and have been trying to seek the right treatment trying to alleviate the soreness and pain I had experienced. After attending regular physio sessions with Jia Zhi, my condition has improved greatly and I also have a better understanding on how to manage my condition.
Jacelyn TanWhen I first came to see Jia Zhi, I was in a state that I wasn’t even able to stand for long or bend down to pick an item. My lower back pain was debilitating and I also had shooting pain that radiated down my leg. After a few sessions with Jia Zhi, my pain subsided and I now have a greater range of motion. This mobility really means a lot to me as I am also playing floorball at a competitive level. Jia Zhi made my condition much better and I am very happy with the treatment. I strongly recommend her as she is very experienced and knows what to do to get you pain-free!
